Yorkville University’s Aimee Trafton recently published her fifth book –a children’s picture book entitled Be Kind.
Published on February 1, Be Kind is an easy-to-read, 25-page rhyming picture book that teaches young children “the most important lesson of all – that life is much better when people are kind.”
“Be Kind was originally a poem I was writing and just thought it would make a nice, rhyming picture book for children,” said Trafton, Yorkville’s Senior eLearning Specialist on the Digital Design Team.
“Being kind is the most important quality a person can have, and it is a value we need to really instill in all children from the time they are very young.”
Be Kind marks the Fredericton, NB-based multi-genre author’s fifth publication to date. Although writing stories for kids remain her first love, Trafton tends toward genre-hopping. In addition to her children’s books Amber Tambourine and the Land of Laugh-a-Lot and Purple Popsicles (And Other Preposterous Poems), she’s also published a YA/adult fiction novella entitled The Misfit Crew, and a poetry chapbook on grief called Grief Journeys: A Prose and Poetry Chapbook.
Her personal essays and stories have also appeared in the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series, Autism Parenting Magazine, Medium, and her personal blog, Life Lessons for My Daughter.
